a gratitude practice

On a day when violence is at the forefront of our collective memory, I am thankful for the peace I feel when watching ducks. How different the world would be if we all took the time to find something in each day that made us feel at peace!
I seriously love ducks. Mostly in their natural, alive state – but in photographs too. In December, during a White Elephant party some fool was giving away an old duck decoy lamp. I traded whatever other unwanted gift I had at the moment for the lamp and hoped that no one else saw its potential [...]
